Surface Tension of molten material

Electrical needle heating device NHD 700Have you ever thought that it is possible to measure the surfacetension of molten material with the pendant drop method upto 700°C (973 K)? Or measure #wettability of molten alloy or polymers up to the same temperature?

DataPhysics offers have the solution, within their modular optical contact angle goniometer series of the OCA range.

Electrical needle heating devices NHD

Dedicated to investigating the properties of metals, polymers or hot melts in their liquid state are the electrical needle heating devices NHD 400 and NHD 700. This special piece of development enables the dosing of molten solids at temperatures up to 400 °C or 700 °C, respectively. Hence the surface tension of, for example, molten aluminum can be determined.

The NHD 400 and NHD 700 feature:

  • temperatures from room temperature to 400 °C or 700 °C, respectively
  • cannula heater with integrated temperature sensor
  • ceramic cannula with plunger
  • heating carrier with fine adjustment screws for the axial and horizontal cannula positioning
  • TC 400Pro NHD or TC 700Pro NHD PID controller for manual or software controlled temperature setting
